Who we are...

Magic City Strings is a classically trained string quartet based in Billings, Montana. We formed in 2013 for the purpose of delving deeper into the chamber music repertoire, and also to provide a service for the Billings community. We are passionate in our pursuit of musical excellence, and strive to always provide a first class performance. Although we are still students, we already have a combined musical experience of over 40 years.

We all play with the Billings Symphony, and individually we’ve played with such groups as the All Northwest Orchestra, All National Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra, Red Lodge Chamber Players, Billings Ceilidh Fiddlers, and more. We spend our summers at such exciting places as the Interlochen Center for the Arts, Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute, and the Seattle Youth Symphony's Marrowstone Music Festival.

How can we serve you?

We are happy to perform for almost any occasion, including private and corporate events, dinner parties, weddings, church events, Christmas parties, etc. We prefer to perform as a quartet, but we can perform as a trio or duo upon request.

Tippet Rise

Through the Billings Symphony and the Sydney E. Frank Foundation, we had the privilege of performing at the Tippet Rise Art Center near Fishtail, MT. It's an absolutely beautiful outdoor setting. Although still in the early development stage, Tippet Rise is on track to become an outstanding asset for our region. We are very grateful to Peter and Cathy Halstead and all the wonderful people who made our performance possible.
